Magewind
the adventure of a life time!

“Go sailing now my friend,

it is later than you think”

We just wanted to give a little bit of an idea of what to expect when you come to visit and enjoy the Caribbean with us.

While Puerto Rico has plenty of great sites, your true vacation will begin when we explore the Spanish Virgin Islands. Upon arriving in Fajardo's SunBay Marina, the home port of our sailing catamaran, "Magewind", you will enjoy late evening cocktails and light appetizers before retiring to your private state room.

Upon waking in the morning and enjoying muffins and fruit, we will be leaving Fajardo and sailing across Vieques Sound and will arrive at Isle Palominos, which will be a great introduction to the area and an absolutely beautiful place to enjoy a light lunch and a crisp chilled bottle of white wine. While here, we will be able to drop anchor in shallow waters and swim ashore. You will be able to walk around this gorgeous little island, sea shell hunt, dig your toes in the soft white sands and relax.

From there we will set sail, heading east to Isle de Culebra. This is a beautiful unspoiled island with spectacular miles and miles of stunning beaches. The snorkeling sites are possibly some of the best in the Caribbean.

Isle de Culebra has no resorts or night clubs to entertain you but, there are a handful of bars and restaurants that offer delicious local fare and libations. We will enjoy sharing a favorite gathering place of ours called "Mamacitas Reef". This little restaurant serves up some of the best dishes we have experienced along with pitchers of margaritas that will quench any sailor's thirst. Another specialty they offer is a chilly, decadent, creamy drink called "The Bushwacker", a must try!
There are 3 roads on Culebra...all leading to a beach. The most famous and perhaps most spectacular in the entire Caribbean, is Playa Flamenco. This wide, smooth beach is made up of white sand as fine as powdered sugar and offers excellent wave action for buggy boarding and body surfing. The clear calm waters and coral reefs provide an amazing opportunity to see barracuda, stingrays, parrotfish, needlefish, flying fish, and deep purple fan coral. Another anchorage we will experience is the tiny offshore cay, Culebrita. The snorkeling here is also excellent.

If the winds bless us and time permits the last stop on our sailing trip of the Spanish Virgin Islands will be the island of Viegues. One of the highlights of visiting Vieques is a night trip to Mosquito Bay, which is said to contain the highest degree of bioluminescence in the world. This huge concentration of micro-organisms give off an eerie glow when the wat
er is disturbed. If the waters are calm we will be able to dinghy over from our anchorage in Ensendada Sun Bay.

Chef Debora, always an enthusiastic cook, has spent many hours under the watchful eye and guidance of master chef, Theresia Kobler originally of Lazy Creek Vineyards in Northern California. Her love of entertaining and cooking will delight you taste buds and quench the thirst of the saltiest sailor.

Your dining experiences will include a variety of dishes such as:

Crusted Tuna with Chili-Cilantro Aioli,

Piquillo Pepper Chicken with Spanish Rice,

Beef Stroganoff with fresh butter noodles.

Homemade breads, and salads galore.

Quiches, Frittatas and breakfast dishes to satisfy your hunger.

Desserts to delight any sweet tooth and island drinks to keep you cool.

We hope that while you are here you will make yourselves at home, relax, romance and find some serene and peaceful moments that you will remember for a long time to come.

                                                 Looking forward to seeing you!
