A taste of sailing through the wine country
The Petaluma river valley empties out into San Pablo bay which is the far northern part of San Francisco Bay. In this case, go North and take a left.
We just wanted to give a little bit of an idea of what to expect when you come to visit and enjoy any one of the Bay Area cruises with us.
While San Francisco has plenty of great sites, your true vacation will begin when we explore the water’s edge. Upon arriving in Sausalito, the home port of our sailing catamaran, "Magewind", you will enjoy late evening cocktails and light appetizers before retiring to your private state room.
Waking in the morning and enjoying muffins and fruit on board or in town at the Sausalito Bakery. W
e will be leaving the marina and sail through Raccoon Straits, North across San Francisco Bay and will arrive at China Camp. This will be a great introduction to the area. An absolutely beautiful place to enjoy a light lunch and a crisp chilled bottle of white wine. While here, we will be able to drop anchor in shallow waters and for the very brave, swim ashore. The rest of us will take the dinghy. You will be able to walk around this gorgeous little park, sea shell hunt, dig your toes in the soft white sands and relax.
From there we will set sail
, heading North to the Petaluma River. This is a beautiful unspoiled river with its spectacular wild life and vineyards running all the way down to the waters edge.
There are several turning points such a trip could take. From traveling all the way up the river into town for the night life, to going on a tour of local wineries, only to return back to Magewind for a wonderful dinner and a peaceful night.
